I originally shot this sailboat a few years a go in Port Lucaya in the Bahamas. I am always a sucker for a sweet looking boat of any kind. It was end of the day as the sun was starting to set over the bay. The original shot was almost black and white with the boat being a silhouette as the sun was behind the boat. I have printed a few of the original and it looked nice but was missing something. I played with a bit tonight and added sun sun flares and bokeh to it and a little color. I am pretty happy with the final piece, but let me know what you think.
The Florida Keys are filled with many treasures to behold, most of them holding historic value. This Key West lighthouse is no difference, it is a piece of history that takes us back to a simpler time. I first spied this beauty while waiting in line to visit Ernest Hemingway’s house. It is literally across the street. I shot a few photos of it, loving the colorful cloudy skies above it. And then I had to visit it. It is located in the Lighthouse museum on Whitehead street. It was just a beautiful inside as out. If you have some free time while visiting the lower Keys, you should take the time to check it out. It is worth the time.
