I captured this shot while visiting Napa Valley a few years ago. Even if you re just a casual wine drinker, you will enjoy a visit to the region. It is only a short trip from San Francisco and is worth the time and effort. We have visited about 10 vineyards in Napa, all do basically the same thing but many havevery different pholosophies on the process andpresentation. This shot was taken at V. Satui, which is the oldest vineyard in Napa. It is also the only vineyard that was grandfathered from the local ordinance that prohibit vineyards from having restaurants. As I understand it, the oridnance was enacted to create equal opportuities for both the vineyards and the local restaurants. V. Satui has a fantastic deli featured hand cured meats and cheeses and yummy antipasta… (The best olives I have ever tasted) This particular photo is of some aging barrels that the wines are put into for finishing.
